Nancy O'Dell's debut position in the broadcasting industry was as a reporter/anchor for WPDE-TV Myrtle Beach South Carolina. Later, she was an anchor for morning news for WCBD TV and also as the crime reporter. Her reporting of the ineffective response of the police towards DUI incidents in Charleston resulted in an investigation by State Law Enforcement Division, which resulted in a new policy from state officials regarding DUI cases. Ms. O'Dell received an award for the Best Report of the Award from the Associated Press for South Carolina's media. O'Dell later worked at NBC's Miami-based station WTVJ-TV as an investigative journalist prior to joining Access Hollywood in the role of weekend co-anchor. Her current position as a host on Access Hollywood is complemented by her contributions to NBC News Today, Dateline NBC as well as NBC News. She's reported on events such as The Oscars The Emmys The Grammys and The Golden Globe Awards as and co-hosted a variety of shows that were pre-showarrivals in preparation for The Emmys and the Golden Globes. She has also hosted the Miss USA Pageant and Miss Universe.
